JAMES MARLOW MCIOF (DIP) -
DIRECTOR OF FUNDRAISING

I’m passionate about helping charities unlock their full potential and achieve lasting impact. After starting my career in marketing with a major company, I realised I wanted my work to make a direct difference in people’s lives. That led me to The Lifetrain Trust in 2001, where I was able to combine my professional skills with a sense of purpose—supporting young people and disabled individuals in Surrey.
In the years that followed, I was proud to be recognised as ‘Best New Fundraiser’ at the National Fundraising Convention, a milestone that helped shape the next stage of my career.
Seeing how many charities struggled to resource their fundraising efforts, I founded JAM Fundraising Consultants to provide expert support where it was needed most. Since then, I’ve partnered with a wide range of charities—local, regional and national—including the UK’s largest charity supporting women experiencing homelessness.
I am currently working with The Children’s Society, leading on trust fundraising and driving strategic growth. I’ve been responsible for designing and implementing a new fundraising strategy for trusts and foundations, creating innovative campaigns for high-value audiences, and using storytelling and media—such as video—to deepen donor engagement.
My work focuses on building sustainable income streams and strong funder relationships to help transform the lives of vulnerable children across the country.
